A Mombasa lobby wants President Uhuru Kenyatta to sack Kenya Ferry Services managing director Musa Hassan.
Pwani ni Kenya chairman Alex Kasuku said Uhuru has had first-hand experience of what commuters go through using ferries at the Likoni Channel.
“It is a good thing he made a surprise visit. He should now take the next step and sack the managing director and his team,” he said.
He spoke to the Star in Mombasa yesterday.
Uhuru expressed his disappointment at the management of the ferry on Monday but acknowledged that most vessels are old.
However, Kasuku said the ferries’ age is not an excuse.
“There are other directors who managed the old ferries well and there weren’t frequent mishaps,” he said.
“The problem is compounded by incompetence. That’s why officers like [county commissioner Nelson] Marwa want him sacked,” he said.
